Recoat – Roof Prime

    • Deep penetrating
    • Vapour permeable
    • Adhesion promoting
  • Clean the surface mechanically using Recoat Etching Cleaner diluted 1:2 with water. After cleaning, remove the dirty water and mop the surface again with Recoat Etching Cleaner (1:2). Allow the substrate to dry thoroughly through proper ventilation—fans may be used to speed up the process. Once the surface is completely dry, a Recoat floor system can be applied.

    Disclaimer
Recoat Etching Cleaner is not designed for deep cleaning. For tiled floors, it is essential that the joints are thoroughly cleaned to ensure optimal adhesion of the coating system.

Apply the remover or remover gel with a brush or cloth, allow 3 minutes to solve the graffiti, then remove the remover with the graffiti. We advise to remove Graffiti within one week. For older or heavier graffiti the treatment may have to be repeated.

First apply the remover gel, after 3 minutes remove the gel with a (paper) towel or cloth. Then give the area a final wipe with the standard remover on a cloth or a graffiti wipe. In this way no substance will be absorbed in the ground and the cleaning materials can be disposed of as chemical waste.

    • Thoroughly clean and degrease with Recoat Cleaner in combination with a scouring pad.
    • Clean afterwards with Recoat Cleaner.
    • Apply Recoat Multi Primer and allow to dry for 1 to 2 hours.
    • Finish with Recoat Non-Stick.
    • Use 8-9 mm microfiber rollers for application.

For application on stainless steel, consult TDS Recoat Stainless Steel.

Clean the substrate with Recoat Floor Cleaner or Recoat Cleaner (see TDS sheet).

Mix component A and B together and machine mix for 1 minute.

Apply Recoat Stix Plus evenly over the surface using a mop weasel: apply, spread, and leave it alone. The product dries quickly (dust-dry after approx. 20 minutes), recoatable after 60 minutes. Using fans will accelerate the drying time to approx. 30–45 minutes, depending on the substrate and the surrounding weather conditions.

Avoid working in the sun due to too fast drying.

After the maximum pot life of 3 hours, do not use the product any longer. Important: the product will remain liquid, which may give the impression it is still usable, but it is not.

On substrates with slight texture, any excess product can be dabbed off using a dry polish applicator with a microfiber cloth (T-bar).

It is recommended to always make a test patch.

Dilute Recoat Bonding Agent standard 1:1 with water. Apply Recoat Bonding Agent evenly over the surface with a cleaning mop and then allow to dry.

Clean the substrate with Recoat Cleaner (see TDS).Divide Recoat Stix Flex evenly over the substrate, rub gently, do not polish. Drying time appr. 15 minutes. Then finish with Recoat AM Protector® Flex.User advice: preferably use a microfibre cloth for application. After use store the microfibre cloth in a seal bag or airtight packing, to prevent the cloth from drying out. This will enhance the lifetime of the cloth.

Evaluation of the substrate is very important. The substrate must be clean, dry, and have good load-bearing capacity, free from green deposits, oil, and grease, among other things.

    – Pre-cast concrete substrates must first be treated with Recoat Etching Cleaner (see TDS). For untreated and highly absorbent substrates, depending on the absorption, the primer should be strongly diluted (20-30%) with water.

    – Ceramic substrates must first be cleaned with a scouring pad in combination with Recoat Floor Cleaner (see TDS), and then moistened with Bonding Agent (see TDS).

    – Recoat Multi Primer Plus reduces consumption and ensures optimal performance of the final product. Apply the product as a normal water-based paint; apply, spread, and leave it alone.

Avoid working in the sun due to too fast drying.

Ensure adequate ventilation, as this accelerates the drying process.

    Never apply Recoat products undiluted.

It is recommended to always make a test patch.

Remove lose dust/grit with a vacuum cleaner, floor mop or other dry cleaning method.

    Pretreatment before coating:

Depending on the level of contamination the Recoat Floor Cleaner can be diluted from 1:5 (standard) for normal cleaning, to 1:2 (1 litre cleaner to 2 litres of water) for deep cleaning.

Apply the diluted Recoat Floor Cleaner on a section of the floor by spray or mop.

Leave the solution on the substrate for 3-5 minutes to solve the embedded contamination. Scrub the treated section with a polishing machine or auto scrubber equipped with a white or red pad and remove all the dissolved contamination. When the entire floor is cleaned like this make one more overall run with the auto scrubber holding only clean water in the tank making sure to remove all cleaning residues.

Note: keep the quantity of water used for cleaning to a minimum. Be aware of large openings/crevices in the floor. Do not allow excessive amounts of cleaning solution in to run in the openings/crevices .

Note: when using the Recoat Floor Cleaner in high concentrations allow 2-3 hours drying time before using the floor.

    For daily floor cleaning:

Dilute to degree of soiling 1:50 to 1:200

Apply the Recoat Cleaner evenly to the surface while rubbing and let dry. The surface doesn’t need to be rinsed with water,

Substrate Preparation: A thorough assessment of the substrate is essential for successful application. Ensure that the surface is:

    • Clean
    • Dry and load-bearing
    • Free from dust, moss, and algae
    • Grease-free

Prior to application, we recommend thoroughly vacuuming the roof after cleaning. This ensures that all fine dust is removed from the pores, contributing to optimal adhesion of the product.

Apply Roof Prime evenly to the substrate, ensuring sufficient overlap to guarantee full coverage.

After approximately one hour, the saturation can be checked by placing a few drops of water on the surface. If the water beads up or remains on the surface as droplets, the substrate is sufficiently saturated.

For highly porous substrates treated exclusively with Roof Prime, we recommend applying a second coat after 1–2 hours, depending on weather conditions.

Clean the substrate with Recoat Cleaner (see TDS).Divide Recoat Stix evenly over the substrate, rub gently, do not polish. Drying time appr. 10 minutes. Can be recoated when dry.User advice: preferably use a microfibre cloth for application. After use store the microfibre cloth in a seal bag or airtight packing, to prevent the cloth from drying out. This will enhance the lifetime of the cloth.

Assessment of the surface is very important. The surface must clean, dry and free of grease, oil and other contaminants.

    Assessment of the Substrate

A proper assessment of the substrate is essential for a successful result. Ensure that the substrate is clean, dry, and load-bearing. It must be free from green growth, moss, oil, grease, salts, and other contaminants.

    Pre-Treatment of the Substrate

Pre-treat the substrate with Recoat Roof Stix. This primer ensures optimal adhesion of the Recoat Roof coating.

    Application of Recoat Roof

After the primer has dried, which takes approximately one hour, you can apply Recoat Roof. This can be done using either a roller or an airless spray system.

    Product Preparation

Before use, the product should be mechanically stirred. It is advisable to apply the entire system in one day. This prevents cleaning work between layers.

The surface must be dry and stable. Pre-treat heavily contaminated surfaces with Recoat Isocoat, but do not apply a thick layer so that the product can perform its insulating function. Allow the surface to dry for 3-4 hours. Finish with a covering coat of Recoat Isocoat.

Proper assessment of the substrate is essential. The surface must be clean, dry, sound, and free from grease or contaminants. Before application, thoroughly stir the product, as matting agents may settle.

Apply Recoat Façade using a microfiber roller with a pile length of 8–9 mm. Do not use fleece or synthetic rollers and avoid applying thick layers. For untreated, highly absorbent, or weathered substrates, pre-treat with Recoat Impregnate to ensure optimal adhesion and durability.

Apply the finishing coat diluted 5–10% and aim for an even, correct layer thickness. As a guideline, one 4-litre container should cover approximately 60–80 m². Significantly lower coverage indicates over-application.

Never apply Recoat coatings undiluted. Always create a test area before full application. Avoid painting in direct sunlight whenever possible. Plaster surfaces and repair mortars must always be pre-treated with Recoat Impregnate. After cleaning a substrate, apply the coating immediately once the surface is dry.

For best results and an optimal aesthetic finish, we recommend using rollers approved by the manufacturer.

Roof Prime is a highly penetrating impregnating primer, specially developed for bitumen roofs. The product penetrates deep into the substrate and ensures optimal adhesion of the subsequent coating layer.
Thanks to its vapour-permeable properties, the roof remains breathable while the surface is prepared for a durable and reliable finish. Roof Prime provides the ideal base for long-lasting renovation or protection of bituminous roofing membranes.

    Application area

Roof Prime is applied to bitumen roofs as a preparatory layer within the Roof system. Roof Prime ensures excellent adhesion to bitumen and provides the ideal base for the further build-up with Roof Stix and Roof.
